Vehicles in German Town Discovered Marked with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Police Report

Authorities mentioned they were contacted by a resident who found a vehicle in Hanau marked with reddish liquid

Approximately fifty vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to police.

Cars, walls and postboxes were marked, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they announced in a statement.

Officers report they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a individual noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish fluid.

The fluid had been placed in the form of a Nazi symbol, they stated.

Police then discovered multiple other vandalized cars and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Swastikas are illegal in Germany under legislation outlawing the public display of Nazi symbols.

Officials report early analysis show the liquid was likely human blood.

"There is still no lead as to its source; investigators are currently not aware of any injuries in association with the event," they commented.

Municipal representatives announced they were trying "to solve the incident" and have asked to the community for information.

An important official commented the incident made him without words and required to be addressed promptly.

"This event affects the very heart of Hanau and reopens the pain of the right-wing violent incident five years ago," he stated on social media, mentioning the killing of nine individuals by a assailant focusing on residents of immigrant origin in five years prior.
